International Seminar on “Incorporation of the SAMBA System as the integral component of the Smart City, Smart Building and Smart Facility”
An international seminar on the incorporation of the Smart Automatic Mechanical Big-data Analysis System (SAMBA) was held in the Malaysia Automotive, Robotic & IoT Institute (MARii) headquarters, Cyberjaya. The seminar was jointly organized by MARii, Seoul Metro (Korea), Majlis Perundingan Melayu (MPM), and Technology Depository Agency (TDA).
The seminar was officiated by Datuk Phang Ah Tong, Chairman of MARii.
The seminar provides a platform for industry stakeholders, businesses and relevant organisations to brainstorm the development and application of the SAMBA system as an integral component in the development of smart cities, smart buildings and smart facilities in Malaysia.
The SAMBA system is an ICT-based facility maintenance system that has useful functions, such as failure monitoring and prediction. The system consists of several Industry 4.0-related technologies such as IoT sensors, networks & servers. IoT sensors acquire data from various facilities and transmits them to servers through networks. Servers stores the acquired data at high-speed and analyzes the received data which can be used in avoiding potential service interruptions, reducing maintenance costs while mitigating the damage that may be caused to a particular system.
Other than introducing the concept of the SAMBA system to the Malaysian market, the seminar also aims to discuss and brainstorm ideas to further develop the technology, system and local talents to enhance the adoption of SAMBA-related technologies and services.
In efforts of promoting the implementation of SAMBA system, MARii will serve as the focal point for the involvement of local industry players and to converge mobility-based technologies for the adoption and application of this system in all sectors.
In addition to SAMBA, two other technologies were discussed in the seminar – Autonomous Scanning Analysis System (ASA) and Smart Station Technology, both of which were developed by Seoul Metro.
The ASA system is an inspection tool that utilizes high-speed image processing and autonomous capabilities to analyse the functionality of tunnel facilities in which it can automatically notify users if malfunction is detected. Among facilities being inspected and detected by the ASA System includes breakage of insulator, cracks in tunnel walls and signal level.
The Smart Station Technology is an intelligent operation environment system that is intended to enhance the safety and satisfaction of facility users. With the Smart Station Technology, all facilities in the station will be managed by an integrated system which utilizes LTE-R based IoT networks to help foresee and reduce risks in an emergency situation.
This seminar serves as an important milestone in creating the needed dialogue and discussion towards developing and implementing an advanced, intelligent mobility ecosystem in Malaysia.
