KLIAS – An Annual Meeting of Global Automotive Professionals

Kuala Lumpur International Automotive Symposium (KLIAS 2017) is the meeting of automotive minds, exchanging ideas and knowledge, understanding of policy directions, networking and business matching in the automotive industry.

The symposium is held in conjunction with Malaysia Autoshow 2017, from 8th to 12th November in Hall D2, MAEP Serdang from 9:30AM to 5PM, whereas the KLIAS Career Fair takes place on 11th and 12th November from 10am to 6pm.

KLIAS 2017 has a total of 80 automotive technology and lifestyle exhibition booths, 30 speakers from 12 countries, four panel discussions, two Tech Talks and business matching sessions. KLIAS 2017 will also host three MOU signings between industry giants, and an exclusive business networking session. Industry players, academics, regulators, and various automotive practitioners will gather in KLIAS 2017 to exchange ideas and share experiences on topics related to Smart Mobility, Industry 4.0, New Horizons in Data-Driven Economies, Sustainable Automotive Ecosystems, Safety and Security and more.

Furthermore, employment opportunities are also a key feature of the symposium, with an estimated of 3,000 vacancies are available for those interested to join the automotive industry through the KLIAS Career Fair. “Adapting to Globalization and market diversity are the important aspects for the development of an industry.

KLIAS plays a role to connect all experts in the industry to share new ideas, perspectives and customs, through a common platform.” said Dato’ Madani Sahari, CEO of MAI. Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI), as the organisers of KLIAS 2017, will also host 3 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremonies at the symposium. MAI will ink their commitment to form strategic collaborations with the Malaysia Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MAGIC), Clean Air Asia (CAA) and SAEAN Korea.

The signing of these MOUs allow for increased coordination and cross-platform collaboration between the numerous public and private organisations that have direct or indirect correlation with the growth of the automotive industry ecosystem. Areas of collaborations covered by these MOUs include, innovation based entrepreneurship, digital economy agendas, green mobility policies and local EV technology development.

A key development of the MAI-MAGIC collaboration is the establishment of the Futurise Centre at MaGIC and MAI’s headquarters in Cyberjaya. The centre is set to be the central platform for the consolidation and sharing of pioneering innovations in line with Industry 4.0 among startups, SMEs, universities and corporations. -moreFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Page2 “In embracing the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0), the Malaysian government recognizes the importance to enhance digitalization and connectivity”, said MITI Deputy Minister, YB Datuk Haji Ahmad Maslan after witnessing an MoU signing ceremony between the Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI) and the Temasek Foundation.

“Thus, it will also provide avenues to improve Malaysia’s public transport landscape, where people could experience advanced e-hailing services and wider usage of EEVs in public transport.”, he added. . KLIAS also serves as a platform for market experts to gather and share the latest trends, technologies, advancements and policies in the automotive industry.

The gathering will be an opportunity to connect foreign and local industry players in the automotive industry.
