The Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) and Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement (KIRIA) today inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate towards the capacity building of Malaysia’s robotics industry.

With new demands within Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem for technologies in connected mobility, advanced robotics and Industry 4.0 applications, this MoU paves the way for increased technology transfer and accelerated implementation of solutions, in line with the demands of the businesses within Malaysian industries.

Through the MoU, MARii and KIRIA will collaborate to develop a productivity and capacity building model based on industry demands. Malaysian companies will be matched with Korean companies to collaborate on productivity improvement, quality enhancement and talent development, in the areas of robotics technology applications for manufacturing, logistics, aftersales and any other spin off sectors where such technologies are applicable.

South Korea has always been a great case study for rapid industrialisation, in particular their automotive sector. Brands such as Hyundai, Kia, Samsung and many others, have emerged as great models for accelerated technology adoption and implementation, particularly for developing countries that are progressing in the shadow of more advanced nations competing in the same global marketplace.

“This MoU signing allows the Malaysian government to create more opportunities for Malaysian businesses to learn from our Korean counterparts. This would allow them to model their operations around the same approach, in order to quickly elevate their operations in line with the global demands of Industry 4.0”, said Dato’ Madani Sahari, Chief Executive Officer of MARii.
