#MASabah2019: Maker’s Corner returns to the Autoshow

The Maker’s Corner, an initiative by Kinabalu Coders makes a comeback to the annual automotive event organised by Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), this time, giving access to Sabahans as a platform to experience robotic technologies.

The Maker’s Corner will consist of 3 main activities during the Malaysia Autoshow Sabah 2019.

Mini Competition – Rero Robot Kit

This mini competition is based on the Rero Standard Robot Kit. It is a robot construction kit that features easy-to-use hardware design and programming tool, designed for younger generation or non-technical people as a means to get started with robotic technologies.

For this activity, registered participants (aged 7-17) will have the opportunity to attend a half-day workshop on how to assemble and operate the Rero Robot Kit in order for them to prepare for the competition.

After that, the participants will compete on an arena where the main objective of the game is to collect as many recyclable items back to its home base within a certain time limit. The team with the most recyclable items will win the competition.

The second mini competition is based on the Rero:Micro Robot Kit. This robot kit is designed for individuals who are interested in coding. Participants will use Microsoft’s MakeCode Editor software to learn the coding process.

In this activity, registered participants will compete in a coding challenge in seven different stages, ranging from the easiest to the hardest.

The teams who are the fastest to complete all the required challenges will win the competition.

General workshop – “Ask Us Anything”

The general workshop entitled “Ask Us Anything”, is a platform for interested individuals, hobbyists and industry players to engage in a discussion/Q&A session with Kinabalu Coders’ members on topics related to implementations of IoT, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and related areas.

Other than that, Kinabalu Coders will also be hosting a one-to-one workshop for the Raspberry Pi, micro:Bit and Arduino for interested visitors.
