The Malaysia Autoshow Sabah 2019 concluded with a prize giving ceremony and Visitors’ Contest grand prize giveaway by MITI Minister


The Malaysia Autoshow, the annual automotive event organised by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) came to an end today, expanding its reach to the Sabah community for the first time, since the Autoshow’s establishment in 2015.

The Malaysia Autoshow 2019 Sabah (MA19 Sabah) was concluded with a prize giving ceremony for a variety of competitions held during the Autoshow. The prizes were given by YB Datuk Darell Leiking, Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI).


The competitions that took place were:

The event was held from the 19th to 20th October 2019 in Dewan Kebudayaan Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Entrance to the event was FREE OF CHARGE.


The Sabah edition of the Malaysia Autoshow continued its tradition of showcasing the latest vehicles focusing on the advances in technology, safety and comfort of vehicles sold within the Malaysian market. Visitors had the opportunity test drive latest models available on a 1km-long test drive route. OEMs such as PROTON, Perodua and Honda participated in the Sabah edition of the Autoshow.

MARii, through its Sabah Satellite, showcased various technologies applicable in the automotive and connected mobility sectors, such as Virtual and Augmented Reality, and the applications of Data Analytics (BDA) and telematics, featuring technology such as live vehicle tracking, on-board diagnostics and data management.

Visitors came up close and personal with coding and programming of robots through MARii’s partner, Kinabalu Coders in the MARii Tech Hub. This included fun and educational simulations for the visitors, whom attend one-to-one workshops on technologies related to implementations of IoT, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.

The aftermarket community feasted on a variety of custom-modified vehicle and 4×4 showcases. Various clubs such as the Sabah Land Rover Club, Sabah Toyota BJ40 and Borneo Safari participated in the Autoshow. Local automotive technology-based company Focus Applied Technologies, provided visitors an opportunity to measure the performance of their vehicles (motorcycles and 2-wheel-drive vehicles) with a dynamometer in the Dyno Challenge.

MARii, through its Car Care Week programme organized FREE car inspections for all visitors of the event. The free car inspection, which also included participation from Perodua’s service division – Tweckbot, included a 21-point inspection system inclusive of engine oil levels, brake pad wear and electronics system of the vehicle. Furthermore, CPSM joined MARii in the efforts to promote the usage of child seats to ensure the safety of children are maximised on the roads.
