19 OCTOBER 2019, Penampang – The Malaysia Autoshow, the annual automotive event organised by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) expands its reach, for the first time stepping foot in Sabah, enabling access for Sabahans to experience MARii’s flagship event since the Autoshow’s establishment in 2015.The Malaysia Autoshow 2019 Sabah (MA19 Sabah) was officiated by YB Datuk Darell Leiking, Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI).

 

The event will be held from the 19th to 20th October 2019 in Dewan Kebudayaan Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Entrance to the event is FREE OF CHARGE.

 The Sabah edition of the Malaysia Autoshow continues its tradition of showcasing the latest vehicles focusing on the advances in technology, safety and comfort of vehicles sold within the Malaysian market. Visitors can test drive latest models available on a 1km-long test drive route.

 

“The government believes the automotive sector has an important position to strengthen the industry’s competitiveness in line with global demands. Therefore, it is important that the Malaysia Autoshow be brought to all corners of the country, including Sabah.”, Datuk Darell said during the launch of the Autoshow.

He added, “MARii has continued to infuse technology based activities in the Malaysia Autoshow brand, and I hope that through this direct interaction with these technologies, visitors of the Autoshow will be able to know exactly how it could enhance our daily life, and build meaningful careers and businesses and play an active role in the Malaysian economy.”.

MARii, through its Sabah Satellite, will be showcasing various technologies applicable in the automotive and connected mobility sectors, such as Virtual and Augmented Reality, and the applications of Data Analytics (BDA) and telematics, featuring technology such as live vehicle tracking, on-board diagnostics and data management.

 

“In order to develop a healthy ecosystem that can benefit all stakeholders in all regions, it is important for technology awareness to be imparted based on the comparative advantages of each locality”, said Dato’ Madani Sahari, CEO MARii.

 

“This is why it is pivotal for access to technology to play an important part of the Sabah edition of the Malaysia Autoshow, to ease the adoption of these technologies for all levels of the community, in our cars, businesses jobs and daily lives”, he added.

 

Visitors can also try coding and programming of robots through MARii’s partner, Kinabalu Coders whom will be participating in the MARii Tech Hub. This includes fun and educational simulations for the visitors, whom can attend one-to-one workshops on technologies related to implementations of IoT, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.

 

The aftermarket community will also experience a variety of custom-modified vehicle and 4×4 showcases. Various clubs such as Sabah Land Rover Club, Sabah Toyota BJ40 and Borneo Safari will be showcasing their vehicles to the visitors of the Autoshow. Local automotive technology-based company Focus Applied Technologies, will be providing visitors an opportunity to measure the performance of their vehicles (motorcycles and 2-wheel-drive vehicles) with a dynamometer in the Dyno Challenge.

 

MARii, through its Car Care Week programme will be organizing FREE car inspections for all visitors of the event. The free car inspection, which also includes participation from Perodua, will consist of a 21-point inspection system inclusive of engine oil levels, brake pad wear and electronics system of the vehicle. Visitors will then be given advice on their car’s condition by professionally trained vehicle inspectors and is not subjected to a particular brand or model.

 

Furthermore, CPSM will be joining MARii in the efforts to promote the usage of child seats to ensure the safety of children are maximised on the roads. CPSM will be providing free child seat inspections and safety talks to visitors of the CCW booth.
