MARii Design Center
Established in 2017, the MARii Design Centre is located in Rawang, Selangor and is the collaboration involving MARii, national car manufacturer PERODUA and its automotive component vendors.
MARii Design Centre is a Government-industry co-operation to expedite and accelerate the embracing of Industry 4.0 (IR 4.0) in Malaysia’s automotive industry in line with the National Automotive Policy, especially in the areas of design, simulation and prototyping.
The state-of-the-art centre comprises a design studio, clay modeling area, paint booth, virtual reality engineering area, augmented reality simulation area, workshop and a presentation area with a turntable. It is also equipped with a portable 3D scanner, a 3D printer for additive manufacturing, and more than 50 computers dedicated to the designing process that forms the backbone of its design workstation and rendering system.
With the establishment of the centre, research and development costs are able to be kept at competitive levels via a shared platform, while simultaneous engineering, and the use of augmented reality, virtual reality simulations and additive manufacturing, expedites the design processes in the development process of a new vehicle.
In the case of PERODUA, the centre also enables the car manufacturer and its vendors to undertake simultaneous engineering whereby designers and engineers are able to expedite technical improvements.
