National Design Centre

Step into the future with the National Digital Centre, a pioneering establishment dedicated to transforming automotive design. We’ve harnessed cutting-edge technology to offer immersive Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) experiences, allowing the visualization of products and automotive parts long before they are physically created.

Distinguished as the only facility in Asia with three PowerWall setups for 1:1 scale concurrent design reviews, along with a state-of-the-art Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE) system, this center enables designers to collaboratively examine and manipulate intricate 3D models with an unmatched level of natural interaction. These innovations redefine the design review process, positioning the National Digital Centre at the forefront of modern automotive design.

This transformational journey is the result of a robust Private-Public Partnership initiative between MARii and PERODUA, aimed at digitalizing automotive Research and Development (R&D). By combining the resources, expertise, and vision of these two automotive powerhouses, this collaborative endeavor charts a path toward a future where the automotive industry is not just advanced but visionary.

Complementing this, the center offers MultiJet and SLA 3D printing capabilities, which expedite the clay modeling process by crafting non-body parts like headlamps, tail lamps, front and rear bumpers, side mirrors, and various interior components. This 3D printing prowess marks a paradigm shift, reducing production timelines and allowing for rapid prototyping without the conventional physical constraints. Furthermore, the National Digital Centre has integrated several cutting-edge Head-Mounted Displays, including Microsoft Hololens and Meta Oculus, to support the development of Mixed Reality experiences for the forthcoming Next Generation vehicles. These immersive tools transport designers into a realm where reality and digital innovation converge, paving the way for revolutionary advancements in automotive design.
